A source close to the British royal family tells ‘Daily Mail’ that Princess Kate (42) was recently forced to reveal her cancer diagnosis because the news threatened to leak. Kate personally would have preferred to wait a little longer.

“The palace wanted to get ahead of the story and decided to share the news with the world as quickly as possible”

Princess Kate announced in a video on March 22 that she has cancer. A ‘well-informed source within Kensington Palace’ now says that the timing of this was brought forward because someone knew about her health condition and threatened to make it public. “The palace wanted to get ahead of the story and decided to share the news with the world as quickly as possible,” says the source.

It is not clear whether the alleged leak comes from The London Clinic, the hospital where Kate had surgery last January. A few days before Kate announced the news, someone at the hospital tried to access Kate’s confidential medical records. It is not known who this concerns, but an investigation into the incident is now underway.

Kate has retreated with her family to Anmer Hall in Norfolk so she can focus 100 percent on her recovery. She is currently undergoing preventive chemotherapy.
