The 50 kilometer National Championships are taking place for the first time in history and have never before been run as a championship in the Netherlands. The Athletics Union has now given permission for this.
Also new is the National Championships, where athletes from municipalities across the country compete for the Dutch title during the 10×10 kilometer relay. This championship was set up in collaboration with the municipality of Oldambt. All 350 municipalities in the Netherlands are being invited to participate in this event.
Frame Running, a Paralympic sport, is also new among young people
On Friday, September 13, the Friday afternoon traditionally starts with the young runners during the LutjeRUN. The starting shot for youth from 4 to 15 years old will sound on the AV Aquilo athletics track. This will be expanded with a new section for the upcoming 48th edition of the RUN. Young people with disabilities can participate in Frame Running, a Paralympic sport in Paris 2024. You walk with a tricycle without pedals with a chest rest and handlebars.
