Agricultural nature association (ANV) D’n Beerse Overlaet will hold a public day on Sunday April 28 in Lithoijen in connection with its 25th anniversary.

The public day will take place from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the yard of the Baijens family at Weisestraat 25 in Lithoijen. There is a wetland plot of approximately 30 hectares. Visitors receive information about nests and bird detection and can spot birds themselves. There is also a demonstration of locating meadow bird nests with a drone.

ANV D’n Beerse Overlaet has been working hard on meadow bird management since the polder of the same name between Den Bosch and Ravenstein was officially designated as a meadow bird area. While in the early years it was mainly about nest protection, in recent years the association has increasingly focused on biotope improvement for meadow birds.

In addition, the Brabant association developed corrugated sheet lake management in collaboration with Brabants Landschap. Land users ensure that at least 60 percent of a plot is flooded from February 15 to July 1. This ensures sufficient food supply for many species of birds, and the birds can nest on the dry parts.
