VLISSINGEN – The police are looking for witnesses to a robbery of a taxi driver on Thursday afternoon in Vlissingen.

The victim, an Amsterdam resident (39), was allegedly threatened with a firearm by two young men at the Valkenburg, in the Bossenburg district, just after 3 p.m., the police said. ‘He had to give up all his money. After this, the two ran off.’

Firearm

The victim walked into the police station in Vlissingen around 3:45 p.m. ‘He was quite upset. The man is from Amsterdam, but was in Vlissingen to drop off a customer there after a long drive from the capital. After this ride, two new customers got on at the Giesenburg/Hellenburg intersection and asked him to drive to the Valkenburg. When the taxi stopped there, one of the men pulled out a gun. The driver had to hand over all his money, after which the two jumped out of the car and fled with the loot. They ran into the neighborhood towards Sterkenburg.’

Signaling

The taxi driver then drove to the police station and filed a report. ‘Several police units went looking for the suspects, but unfortunately did not find them. It concerns two suspects, probably between 16 and 19 years old. They have dark skin and wore dark clothing. One of them is missing a corner of his front tooth.’
