From Bruce Springsteen to Foo Fighters

Please take a look. All these acts are on the program: Rammstein (Vannstein), Metallica (Meatallica), Foo Fighters (Stacked Actors), Muse (Musest), Pearl Jam (Rearviewmirror), Johnny Cash (Memphis Rose), The Police (The Policed), Bob Marley (Panache Culture), The Rolling Stones (Stones Sessions), Creedence Clearwater Revival (Callahan Clearwater Revival) and Bruce Springsteen (Bruce Brothers). Still bizarre, enjoying all these hits in one day on the famous Pinkpop site. All that on July 7.

Tribute bands are catching on

There are of course only one of many defining bands such as Rammstein, The Rolling Stones or Brunce Spingsteen. The people in those bands are getting older and older and are performing less and less. So there is a gap in the market.

In De Machine, Niels Aalberts, Malou Miedema and Atze de Vrieze discussed this phenomenon before. Niels: “Sometimes you have the real thing that is really not that good anymore, then you still hear music that you relate to.” Sytse Wils from TivoliVredenburg regularly books these types of bands: “I don’t know if I understand everything about this, but what I see is that there is a huge target group of older concertgoers who often bring their children. Who do not say goodbye to a certain repertoire, who want to hear and see that. They are no longer completely attuned to current developments, but they have grown up visiting concerts.” Listen to the episode below.
