differences in the country during Easter

--

During this long Easter weekend, the border with fresh and mild air is close to our country. This makes expectations uncertain and can lead to significant differences within the country. There is a chance of rain every day, but there will also be dry periods with sunshine. Read what is probably the best day to go out in this Easter weekend weather forecast.

Good Friday starts with rain regionally, but in the morning the rain will move north. In the afternoon there are periods of sunshine and the weather is pleasant in most places. There is a chance of local showers in the west of the country later in the afternoon.

With 11 degrees on the Wadden Islands to approximately 15 degrees in Brabant and Limburg, it is mild for this time of year. Maximums of 10 to 12 degrees are common at the end of March. There is a moderate southwest wind blowing. The wind at the sea is quite strong, 5 Bft.

Big differences are possible on Holy Saturday

The greatest uncertainty in the forecast is on Saturday. The separation of very soft and significantly cooler air is located above our country or just west of our country. Rain zones and showers occur at the border of both air types, but the sun also shines in between. When the border turns west, it is dry in much of the country with a mix of clouds and sun. Inland the temperature then rises to 16 to 19 degrees. In the far east, 20 degrees is not even excluded. In the west it will be cloudy with a chance of showers, possibly with thunder in the afternoon. If things go wrong and the air type limit turns further east, it will rain in many more places and the temperature will be a few degrees lower everywhere.

Saharan dust is also passing over eastern Netherlands and Germany at some height. This means the sunrise can be beautiful. During the day the sky may be somewhat yellowish and, if it is otherwise dry and quite sunny, the afternoon temperature may be slightly lower.

Good chance of dry weather for a long time on Easter Sunday

It is also mild on the first day of Easter before the end of March. It will probably be 14 to 16 degrees in many places. You can look for eggs in the garden on Sunday morning, because a large part of the day seems to be dry. From the south the chance of showers increases during the day. If you have outdoor activities planned in the afternoon, be sure to do so our rain radar closely monitor.

Possible nuisance due to Easter fires

The wind is in the (south)east corner on Easter Sunday. In the north and east of the Netherlands, but also across the border in Germany, Easter fires are lit in many places, especially on Easter Sunday. With an east to southeast wind, the smoke will mainly move over the east and north of the Netherlands. If things go wrong, the middle of the country will also suffer from this.

There is also a high chance of hay fever complaints if you are sensitive to birch pollen.

Easter Monday will probably be quite wet

The second day of Easter is more suitable for indoor activities, because there is a good chance of rain. The whole day may be downright wet and we will hardly see the sun. The temperature will be a maximum of 12 degrees with a moderate wind from the southwest or west.
