9:57 PM – Shots at Coolhaven metro station

Gunshots were heard at Coolhaven metro station on Sunday evening around 9.45 pm, the police said. It is still unclear what exactly happened. One person was said to have been injured.

8:51 p.m. – Suspects arrested for car shooting

On Sunday afternoon, the police arrested two men in Schiedam after a car had been shot at the Dorpsweg in Rotterdam earlier that afternoon. No one was injured in this.

Around 2.30 pm, officers received a report from the Boergoensevliet that a 33-year-old man from Rotterdam had been shot at a car after an argument at the traffic light on the Dorpsweg in Rotterdam. No one was injured in this. At around 4.30 pm, officers were able to arrest two men, both of whom were 35 years old. The men come from Oud-Beijerland and Schiedam. A firearm was also seized. It is being investigated whether this is also the firearm that was used on Dorpsweg.

3:02 pm – Car shot at in Rotterdam-Charlois

A car was shot at on the Boergoensevliet in Rotterdam-Charlois on Sunday afternoon. What exactly happened is still unclear. The police are investigating. No suspects have yet been arrested.

14:31 pm – Three police officers attacked in Dordrecht

In Dordrecht, three police officers were attacked by five men on Saturday night. One of the officers broke a finger, and a police bus was also destroyed. The officers only got the situation under control when they threatened with an electroshock weapon.

Around 02:00 a.m., the officers arrive at Vogelplein on a report of a fight. There they see a car speeding, after which they want to stop it. The occupants initially do not heed a stop sign. When the car stops, five men get out. The atmosphere gradually becomes grim, eventually leading to insults from the officers.

Two men from Dordrecht, aged 21 and 24, are arrested, an officer breaks a finger.

2:28 pm – Tram driver assaulted in Schiedam

A 49-year-old tram driver broke her nose in Schiedam on Saturday afternoon. After an altercation with a 22-year-old woman, a fight ensued in which the tram driver was punched several times in the face.

The consternation arose after the tram driver asked the woman to get in with her pram at the correct entrance. She didn’t. The suspect ran away in the direction of Vlaardingen and was arrested.

11:34 am – Police are looking for witnesses to shooting in Hardinxveld

The police are looking for suspects in the shooting incident in Hardinxveld-Giessendam on Saturday evening. Three more suspects were arrested the same day, all from Hardinxveld-Giessendam, they are 25, 28 and 68 years old.

10:02 AM – Update: Travelers heading to Casablanca stranded at airport

A group of 75 travelers was stranded at Rotterdam the Hague Airport on Saturday night after their flight was cancelled. They would fly with Royal Air Maroc to Casablanca. Most passengers were already on the plane when the flight was cancelled. The plane was supposed to take off at 9:30 PM but was delayed until after 11:00 PM. Departure was therefore no longer allowed, due to the night closure of the airport.

The next morning, a replacement flight could not be arranged at short notice by the airline due to staff shortages and ‘operational conditions’. This afternoon at 14:00, the passengers will depart for Casablanca.

The stranded travelers had to spend the night at the airport, those involved complained that there were no chairs or beds available for them, so they had to sleep on the floor. There was also no food available anywhere, which made those waiting weak. A spokesperson for Rotterdam the Hague Airport confirms that two people have passed out, but they are now doing better. They didn’t have to go to the hospital.

The spokesperson also confirms that travelers had to spend the night in the passage hall. The passengers are now in the departure hall, where they have been given a voucher to get food or drinks from. According to a spokesperson, airline Royal Air Maroc has not offered passengers a hotel or overnight accommodation after the flight has been cancelled. Royal Air Maroc could not be reached for comment.

01:57 am – Serious accident with motorcyclists on the A20

A serious accident took place on the A20 between Maassluis and Vlaardingen on Saturday night. A car and six motorcycles were involved. Four motorcyclists were injured and had to be taken to hospital. Three of them were slightly injured, another was seriously injured.

It is unclear what exactly happened, but an investigation is underway.

00:00 – Two people slightly injured after stabbing in Sliedrecht

On Saturday evening, 9 July, two people were slightly injured in a stabbing on the Tuinfluiterstraat in Sliedrecht. It concerns two men from Sliedrecht, aged 55 and 58, they got into an argument in the hall of a flat and injured each other with a stab object. The wounds were superficial and the men did not need to be hospitalized.

They had to go to the police station, where they were interrogated.
