Fortunately, there was a match in England between the legend teams of Liverpool and Ajax, which was also broadcast live. There were 60,000 cheerful spectators at Anfield to watch the veterans play.

You could do two things. First option: surrender to melancholy. Oh well, Jari Litmanen (53), in excellent condition and with the Mokum captaincy around his arm, Richard Witschge, Simon Tahamata, Edgar Davids, Sonny Silooy, Ronald de Boer, Rafael van der Vaart…

Also to make you melancholy: the golden Ajax of the seventies, if still alive, has become too old to appear in legend teams anymore. It felt like the first commemoration of the Battle of Arnhem without Airborne boys from back then.

Second option (and a better idea): laugh a bit, not so much about the Legends as about the current Ajax. All you had to do was click on social media and you would be immersed in it.

One player from the golden Ajax was there: Sjaak Swart (85), as coach on the bench next to Danny Blind. The fact that Sjaak himself did not play was of course to give the Liverpool Legends a fair chance in front of their own audience.
