Graham Potter has rejected Ajax’s first offer, it writes Algemeen Dagblad. The first offer from Amsterdam would not come close to the salary that the Englishman has in mind.
Potter is the top candidate in Amsterdam to succeed John van ‘t Schip at Ajax after this season. While the Englishman would have liked it from a sporting point of view, the first offer was not nearly enough to convince the coach from a financial point of view.

Initially, general manager Alex Kroes approached Potter about a job in Amsterdam. Despite Kroes being suspended for insider trading, Ajax decided to continue with the attempt to sign the Briton. The club management expects that Potter can ensure a resurrection faster than the other Dutch candidates.
While Ajax made an offer to the Englishman, it will have to dig a lot deeper into its pockets to actually sign Potter. If the club management decides not to do so, they will be forwarded to the other candidates.
Ronald de Boer does not agree with Marco van Basten that too few talents have broken through in recent seasons Ajax.
