“It is important to us that everyone within our network goes through this training, and we are actively committed to promoting this,” the spokesperson said. “We do this, among other things, by actively helping to remind, monitor and engage in conversation.”
Derksen said on Tuesday evening in the SBS6 talk show Today Inside that he did not intend to take the course, after guest Job Knoester said that he had done the e-learning. Derksen claimed that he has not yet received an invitation and called it ‘nonsense’ and ‘bullshit’. “There is nothing about that in my contract, so I just don’t do that.”
He repeated these words again on Wednesday evening. “I don’t want to be bothered by young people who come up with this or demand this with silly exams,” said Derksen. “If the management is smart, they will forget to send me that thing. Because if it becomes a prestige issue, that won’t help anyone. But of course I don’t want to take part in that craziness.”
The opinion maker then received applause from the studio audience. He added: “If I walk around the media world unscathed for 55 years, then I will no longer have to take an exam when I am 75.”
Wilfred Genee and René van der Gijp also revealed on Tuesday evening that they have not yet taken the course. It VItrio still has some time for that. Political reporter Merel Ek stated in the broadcast on Tuesday that the training must be completed before April 12.
The course is an initiative of the Media Pact Respectful Cooperation, a collaboration between various parties that was established after abuses at The Voice of Holland. The aim of the course is to combat undesirable behavior in Hilversum. Employees of NPO, RTL and Talpa, among others, must complete the e-learning.
