“I was single for a year and a half when I signed up Married at First Sight. Ultimately you want to be with someone,” says Jeffrey. “I thought it would be a good time to look for love in a different way and I was also curious about how I would be matched with someone. I first discussed the idea with my children and their mother and everyone was immediately enthusiastic. They were very supportive of me.”

Ultimately, Jeffrey is paired with Jerney. He remembers what it felt like when he stood at the altar waiting for her. “I was extremely nervous, I didn’t know who was coming in at all. When I saw her, I immediately felt calm. I saw a nice face and a beautiful woman.”

Power couple

“The wedding day and honeymoon were the highlights of the adventure, that’s when you really get to know someone,” says Jeffrey. “There was an immediate click. We had the same interests, both put our children first and laughed at each other’s jokes.”

The two seem to be the power couple of the season – next to Jeppe and Jantine – but their marriage does not survive. “I found the conversation about getting a divorce very difficult. I wanted it to succeed so badly. Everything went smoothly for us, we had a lot of fun and love started to emerge. But after the recordings you really get to know each other. During a holiday I noticed that I didn’t miss Jerney enough. She’s super sweet, but I need someone more feisty. Someone who offers resistance. In addition, her possible move from Ede to Breda became a thing. You take the children away from their friends. The feeling was not what it should be.”
