In the latest episode of ‘De Bauers’, Frans Bauer (50) visits the dietician for some weight loss advice. He has been trying to lose weight for quite some time, but it is not going so smoothly and according to Frans, his wife Mariska is to blame. Or does Frans have himself to blame?
“Yes, hello, who’s going to shove it all in your mouth?”
Frans decides to seek professional help in his battle against the pounds and visits the weight loss center. Once at the dietitian, who has already met the singer several times, Frans discovers that he is two centimeters shorter. According to the doctor, this has to do with age. “Will that be because of the weight I’m carrying?” Frans asks jokingly. “That is possible!”
Then he steps on the scale. Frans is shocked by the number that appears on the screen. “111. Completely out of control. Then I’m obese or not?” The doctor points out to Frans his BMI of 34.4 and says that this is indeed officially obese. This does not come as a surprise to son Jan. “I already saw it coming for him.”
The dietitian would like to know what Frans eats, after which Frans gives a considerable list of what he eats: “I eat bread in the morning. It can be brown bread, but I prefer white. I regularly eat a piece of liver sausage in between meals. sometimes fried eggs in the morning. With bread and bacon.” Frans also eats chocolates ‘with those golden packaging’. According to son Jan, he also goes to McDonald’s after his performances because he ‘supposedly hasn’t eaten enough’ and then ‘takes a quick look in the refrigerator’ at home. Jan continues: “Then I think your arteries are clogged with cholesterol.” Frans Junior shares: “Dad’s motto: no matter how expensive, everything tastes better from the chip shop.”
Once home he tells the news to Mariska. According to him, it went well, but there are some points of attention. According to him, the fact that he appears to be obese is because of Mariska: “It’s all your fault.” Mariska defends herself: “Yes, hello, who puts it all in your mouth.” Frans then asks her: “Who buys groceries here?” Mariska continues: “Who will get it out of the closet?” According to Frans, Mariska often offers to help him, but then she brings all kinds of unhealthy things into the house.
To have a healthy BMI, Frans would have to weigh 80 kilos. And that is quite confrontational for the singer. “Oh, then I’m 30 kilos overweight. I just have to change my entire lifestyle.” Fortunately, the dietician comes up with a plan for what he should eat and what he can do in ‘situations that are more difficult’. Frans admits that he should give up his cappuccino. “Because how many did I drink a day? About ten!”
