It was a job that took the sponsor committee a year, but since the beginning of September the entire youth department of SJO Serooskerke/Veere has had brand new tracksuits. Nicky Holmes is proud that so many companies care about the youth of both clubs and have helped make this possible.
“It was a major project that we worked out very well with a number of people and which required quite a few hours of preparation. But when you now see all the youth members of the SJO proudly wearing their own tracksuits, it gives you a very good feeling.”
Until recently, Holmes was a board member of the SJO, but he has now stopped. Partly to be able to fully focus on his membership of the sponsorship committee. In that capacity, he also led the plan to provide the youth members with their own uniform tracksuits. “I picked up that project together with Jordi Suurmond and we got to work. Write a plan, convince both boards of the necessity and then, after approval, look for the necessary sponsors. Because there is quite a lot of money involved. We also shed light on clubs such as Zeelandia Middelburg and SVOD’22 and asked how they approached this. This is how the whole thing was set in motion and ultimately realized.”
It has been designed in a plan in such a way that it is not a one-off event but is future-proof. “We naturally want the suits to be replaced in such a way again in the long term and we have secured this in a plan. We also didn’t want the tracksuits to become the property of the club, then you have to manage everything and that always takes a lot of time and arranging things. That is why we decided that for a very small amount everyone could buy his or her own suit and provide it with initials or their own name. Thanks to the sponsorship we were able to achieve that.”
This entire project was ultimately made possible by a number of loyal sponsors: HUBO Serooskerke, Sinke Schoenmode, Propema Elektrotechniek and OOS International from Serooskerke and Intersport Erik from Middelburg. “Thanks to their sponsorship, all youth teams now look very neat before and after the matches and it gives the SJO Serooskerke/Veere a more professional appearance. That was our aim and we are satisfied and proud that this has been achieved through the efforts of a group of volunteers and sponsors.”
