Red Bull Racing has to deal with one blow after another. The team is dealing with a exodus around Max Verstappen’s team.

It was previously announced that the former chief mechanic of Max Verstappen would leave Red Bull Racing. Sources within the Red Bull team have told GPToday.net that Lee Stevenson will join Audi’s new Formula 1 team. He will most likely also become chief mechanic there.

It will have little influence for this season, because the teams have enough reserves that can also capitalize on this function. Although Lee Stevenson was involved in the growth of the team, he will leave immediately. It could have a big impact on team morale, as Stevenson’s experience was a big asset.

Stevenson was the chief mechanic of Verstappen’s car from 2014 to the end of 2020. He then took on a new role within the team. He was the Support Team Chief Mechanic for a year and then served as the Race Team Chief Mechanic. Earlier today he announced on Instagram that he was leaving the team.

It’s no secret that Audi was looking for staff. The German car manufacturer will enter Formula 1 in 2026. They will then take over the Sauber team. Earlier this month, Audi announced that it was acquiring all shares of Sauber, but previously this did not seem to be the case. The ambitions for the brand are therefore high.
