Froukje has her own coaching practice in addition to her television work. That career change did not come out of the blue: her parents are psychologists. Through her training as a coach, Froukje discovered that she also had problems herself. “I was alone quite often in my youth. I was raised by my mother, I saw my father once every two weeks. That was normal contact arrangements at the time, but that does not alter the fact that I missed him very much as a child.” , she tells Nouveau.

Froukje often feels lonely. “That has become a theme in my life, I quickly feel alone. Thanks to this training, I recognize that in myself more and more. When that feeling arises, I now think: oh, this is not the other person’s, this is mine” , she says candidly.

What does she do with that feeling? “I also have certain coaching tricks that I use with myself. For example, I give my feeling a name. God, there’s Kitty Lamentation again. This helps you defuse that feeling.”

Froukje is good at putting things into perspective and knows where her feelings come from. “If you peel it back completely, it is of course little Froukje who just wants an arm around her,” she says. “I also have a photo of myself as a little girl in my bedroom. I look at it every now and then and I think: how did I feel then? It can sometimes be helpful to relive that.”
