At the airport of the Indian city of Delhi, police arrested a man posing as a Singapore Airlines pilot.

Last Thursday, the 24-year-old man, Sangeet Singh, walked through an airport air bridge near Delhi, India, reports Indian news source NDTV. He had dressed himself in a flight suit and even wore an ID card around his neck. He claimed to be a pilot with Singapore Airlines. However, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was having none of it and arrested him.

Singh carried no official ID documents and had even managed to convince his family that he had a job with the prestigious airline. The document he wore around his neck turned out to be forged. The document was a fake of a real Singapore Airlines pass and the pin on his jacket was also fake. He managed to get the suit he was wearing in the Dwarka area of the city. This is one of the more chic and luxurious areas of New Delhi.

According to Indian police, the man completed a one-year aviation hospitality course in Mumbai in 2020. He was also not even remotely qualified to fly an airplane. A senior police official told news agency IANS ‘Presenting himself as a Singapore Airlines pilot before the CISF personnel, he wore an ID card around his neck. When he was intercepted, we were able to identify him as Sangeet Singh who had a Singapore Airlines ID for in flight operations in his possession, we were then able to confirm that it was fake.’

The Indian Public Prosecution Service is filing a case against Singh.

Indian riots

The Indian market is one of the fastest growing markets at the moment. However, the country still has to get used to the strict rules imposed by aviation authorities. Exactly a year ago, an Air India pilot also became controversial because he invited his girlfriend into the cockpit during a flight from Dubai to Delhi. Remarkable news also regularly comes out about passengers’ rude behavior or drunkenness.
