(ABM FN-Dow Jones) The Netherlands is investing 2.5 billion euros in strengthening the business climate for the semiconductor sector Brainport Eindhoven. The Dutch government announced this on Thursday afternoon.

In the Brainport Eindhoven region, these organizations are reaching their limits. There is a shortage of staff, space and energy. That is why the government has made agreements with regional governments to address these shortages. This should ensure that the Netherlands remains an attractive location for the chip sector and its suppliers. “That sector is important for our earning capacity and employment and contributes to our security and independence from other countries,” the government said.

Under the name ‘Project Beethoven’, the government and the region have worked on an extensive package of measures. 2.51 billion euros will be allocated for these measures for education, knowledge and spatial infrastructure.

With the package of measures, the government wants to strengthen the Dutch chip sector and support further growth of the activities in Brainport Eindhoven.

It is now up to the House of Representatives and Senate to decide on this.
