Westland growers win prizes for Amaryllis at Keukenhof

“The versatile Amaryllis has shown its beauty in various categories by producing prize winners,” said a spokesperson for De Keukenhof. “With a range of colours, shapes and sizes, the Amaryllis has proven to be a versatile flower that stands out in any arrangement.”

Award ceremony

• The first prize for the Amaryllis Large-flowered Cut Single 2024 was awarded to Amaryllis ‘Pleasure’, submitted by NL Van Geest BV from ‘s-Gravenzande. The jury was unanimous in its decision and praised the beautiful Amaryllis for its strikingly bright and vibrant colours.
• The first prize for the Amaryllis Large-flowered Cut Double 2024 was awarded to the Amaryllis ‘White Symphony’, grown by Amaranthos Flowers from Bleiswijk. “This beautiful Amaryllis stands out in every bouquet because it is beautifully filled. With its romantic round shape, the ‘White Symphony’ adds elegance.”
• In the Amaryllis small-flowered Cut 2024 category, one prize was awarded for double and single. The winner this year is Amaryllis ‘Picasso’ from Ende Flowers BV from Maasdijk. “The powdered pattern of this Amaryllis is appreciated by the jury. The jury is particularly impressed by a bouquet with a large number of calyxes of this flower.”
• Two prizes were awarded for the potted Amaryllis: a prize for the Amaryllis Pot Single 2024 and a prize for the Amaryllis Pot Double 2024. The Amaryllis ‘Costa Blanca’ from the Floralia growers’ association was found to be very complete by the jury. “The beautiful sturdy stems and many flowers make the ‘Costa Blanca’ a worthy winner in the Amaryllis Pot Single 2024 category.”
• The name actually says it all. The winner of the Amaryllis Pot Dubbel 2024 is Amaryllis ‘Doublet’. This potted Amaryllis was also grown by the Floralia growers’ association. “With its unusual shape, the ‘Doublet’ is very photogenic. The petals make an almost wavy movement, which creates surprises every time you look at them.”
• The Keukenhof Professional Prize Amaryllis 2024 has been awarded to the Amaryllis ‘Velvet Nymph’ from Gebr. Van Velden from ‘s-Gravenzande. “The flower shines, the drawings are beautiful. The new shape and bright red color make ‘Velvet Nymph’ a worthy winner.”
• The Keukenhof Stand Prize Amaryllis 2024′ goes to the Floralia growers’ association. “Floralia has a wide variety of Amaryllis. The love for this flower is clearly present in the top quality of the products.”
